My 2018 Travel Goals

It is the end of the year which means I am writing my personal and professional goals for the next 12 months. Today I thought, why not write a post about my 2018 travel goals? Traveling more was a priority for me in 2017. After a few years of personal setbacks and health issues, I felt like it was time to focus on the things I love to do, and there are not many things that I love more than travel. I took two trips in 2017, a very brief visit to Chicago and an extravagant (at least by my budget travel standards) 40th birthday trip to Kingston and Montego Bay, Jamaica. In 2018, I plan to at least double, if not triple, that number.

Best Places to Grab a Hot Chocolate in Washington D.C.

I don't think there is a bad time to visit Washington D.C. but the holiday season is one of my favorite times of the year. From Christmas tree lightings to holiday markets, there is plenty to see and do that will put you in a joyous holiday spirit. Unfortunately, many of these events take place outdoors and D.C. is cold in December, especially at night. What can you do when you need to warm up fast?

The Perfect Itinerary for 24 Hours in Chicago

Chicago has been on my bucket list for 16 years. A few times I started to plan a trip but it never panned out. So I was super excited when I found out that my family reunion was going to take place near the Windy City. Finally, I was going to see the amazing architecture, visit the exceptional museums, and eat my way from one side of the city to the other. The original plan was for Mom and me to fly to Chicago a few days early, but some last minute schedule changes meant that we could only arrive one day before the reunion. Disappointed but determined to make the best of it, I planned an itinerary to maximize our brief visit. Keep reading to find out how we accomplished our perfect itinerary for 24 hours in Chicago.
